About Burt Southard

Biography of

Burt Southard
Special Projects Analyst to San Bernardino County Supervisor Gary Ovitt.  Burt's responsibilities in the San Bernardino Government Center are to provide constituent assistance, background information on county programs, and assist the Supervisor at various events.

Burt recently served as District Director/ Special Assistant to San Bernardino County for Supervisor Bill Postmus from 2000 till 2006. Previously served as Senior Consultant on elections campaigns, communication, and district office operations for Assembly Republican Caucus Leaders. Subsequent to that he served as Principal Assistant and Chief of Staff to Senate Republican Leader Jim Brulte. Before that he was the Principal Assistant to Assembly Republican Leader, Jim Brulte.

Southard’s 30 years of professional campaign and government experience include stints at the U.S. Department of Justice and Small Business Administration during the Reagan and Bush Administrations and Congressional Chief of Staff positions on Capitol Hill. Prior to that he served in various staff and consulting positions with the Republican National Committee and the National Republican Congressional Committee.

He has participated in and conducted numerous training programs in the United States and overseas, most recently in the Republic of Georgia under the auspices of the International Republican Institute (Department of State – Agency for International Development).
