Barstow Tour with Supervisor Gonzales
On July 25th, Supervisor Josie Gonzales joined Supervisor Ramos for a day in Bartow and Lucerne Valley. The two Supervisors donned hard hats and took an informative tour of the new performing arts center at Barstow Community College. The new facility will allow theater students to gain a more hands-on experience and for the greater community of Barstow to enjoy plays and musical events.
Following this tour, the Supervisors made a stop at the Workforce Development Center where they learned about the vocational training programs offered through the Community College. Students who participate in these programs can learn trades such as welding, automotive or diesel technology. Supervisor Josie Gonzales
“was truly impressed with the tremendous growth at BCC. The shared vision of the trustees, along with the faculty and student leadership, has created an innovative learning environment that will prepare students for careers in nearly every sector.” The school has already formed partnerships with local businesses looking to hire skilled workers. Supervisor Ramos applauded these partnerships, “Barstow Community College has done an excellent job forging partnerships with companies looking for a workforce that is trained and ready to hire. This is something we must replicate across the county.”
