Santa Ana River Project

The Santa Ana River Parkway & Open Space Plan (SARP& OSP) is being developed by the California Coastal Conservancy’s Santa Ana River Conservancy Program to help jurisdictions along the river corridor collaborate on a shared vision for the Santa Ana River Parkway. The plan stretches through Riverside, Orange, and San Bernardino Counties.

Children Swimming in the Santa Ana River The Open Space Plan will help jurisdictions along the river corridor work together to realize the vision of a regionally celebrated resource that provides varied opportunities for residents and visitors to experience the river corridor along its entire length, while providing necessary flood protection, drinking water supply, habitat continuity, and recreation, education, and health benefits.

Each county now has its own plan for finishing the trail in place and all are on track for completion by 2020. Jurisdictions were invited first to submit information on existing and planned projects, and several hundred entries have since been submitted. In 2017 the Conservancy invited the public to share their priorities for the Santa Ana River Parkway.
