Elizabeth Smart to Headline BCH’s Healthy Woman 7th Annual Anniversary Event
For the past seven years, Barstow Community Hospital’s Healthy Woman program has empowered local women by providing monthly events filled with free education and fun. On Friday, September 13, Barstow Community Hospital celebrates Healthy Woman’s seventh anniversary in style with a gourmet meal, musical entertainment, and a motivating keynote presentation by kidnapping survivor Elizabeth Smart. Her topic is “Overcoming Adversity.”
Elizabeth Smart’s ordeal began in early June 2002 when she was 14 years old and abducted from her Salt Lake City home in the middle of the night. The search to find her was a national news story as her kidnapping nightmare continued for nine months. Elizabeth’s example and life now is a daily demonstration that there really is life after a tragic event. Her speech will not only tell her story, but also discuss topics such as overcoming extreme adversity and not allowing your past to dictate your life's future.
Tickets for the dinner are $30 for Healthy Woman members and $40 for non-members, although membership for Healthy Woman is free and can be completed online. Advanced ticket purchases are required since dinner seating is limited and the event is expected to sell out early.
