Perhaps one of the greatest casualties our veterans face is the feeling of being
forgotten. The County of San Bernardino and the VA Medical Center want local
veterans to know they are not forgotten and that we truly appreciate the
sacrifices they have endured. San Bernardino County Department of Veterans
Affairs and Behavioral Health, in partnership with the Loma Linda VA Healthcare
System, are hosting a series of informational workshops for veterans in
communities around the County.
As Chairman of the Board of Supervisors, I would like to invite our veterans and
their families to join us for an Evening of Support for Our Heroes from 5 to
8 p.m. on Dec. 10 at the Jessie Turner Health and Fitness Center
located at 15556 Summit Ave., Fontana CA 92336.
Our goal is to provide participants with information on how to access veteran’s
benefits (e.g., monetary/educational) and how to obtain other local services.
Dinner and childcare will be provided for veterans and their families.
Event topics and resource information will include:
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI)
- Woman Veterans’ Issues
- Accessing VA medical care
|
- College Fee Waiver Program
- VA Monetary benefits programs
- Education benefits
- Community services
|
Veterans and their spouses or parents, clergy members, nursing students and
educators are also welcome to attend.
Once again, thank you for your dedication to preserving our freedoms and for the
sacrifices you have made in your personal lives. I look forward to seeing you on
Dec. 10.
Sincerely,
Paul Biane
Chairman and Second District Supervisor
