CHP Mojave, which covers portions of the First District near Trona, is warning the public about the dangers of railroad crossings. When near a crossing, please follow these six safety tips.

  1. Always expect a train.
  2. Trains move in either direction at anytime.
  3. The only safe place to cross tracks is at designated public crossings with a crossbuck, flashing red lights or a gate.
  4. Never try to beat a train! Never pass flashing lights or go around lowered gates.
  5. Stay off railroad bridges and trestles. Stay out of railroad tunnels.

Stay alert around railroad tracks. Avoid Distractions.
