- African Honeybees
Now infesting all of Southern California, this bee
aggressively defends its home, occasionally stinging
animals and people to death. Arrived here in 1998.

- Red
Imported Fire Ant
Infesting Orange, Riverside, Los Angeles and San Diego
County, this pest is being eradicated from San Bernardino
where it infests four neighborhoods. Found in 1999.

- White-Fringed Beetle
This bug infests Chino Hills and its grubs feed on
over 385 species of plants including beans, peas and
many ornamentals. Found in 1987. Biological controls
seem to be effective.

- Red Gum Lerp Psyllid
Populations of this pest exploded over California,
defoliating eucalyptus trees and leaving a sticky
residue underneath. Found in 1998. Biological controls
are being released.

- Ash Whitefly
Clouds of this pest swept through California, feeding
on ash trees and excreting a sticky residue on everything
below. Now under biological control. Arrived in 1991.

- Olive Fruit Fly
Found in 1999, this pest feeds exclusively on olives
ruining the fruit, much to the dismay of home canners
and the olive industry.
