Rodent Bait Use & Prices

Having a problem with mice, rats, gophers, or ground squirrels? Our department formulates various rodent baits and sells them to the public and industry.

Rats and Mice:

Several types of bait are available for these vermin. Diphacinone, an anticoagulant, needs to be consumed by the pest for about 5 days without interruption in order to be effective. Loose treated grain is put in bait stations and treated blocks can be placed in trees and other areas where bait stations aren’t practical. The other type of bait we sell for rats and mice is Zinc Phosphide, a pelletized bait which is quicker acting than anticoagulants, but may not be eaten as readily.

Gophers:

If you become frustrated with trapping, Zinc Phosphide bait placed underground in burrows is very effective. This is the only material we have for gophers.

Ground Squirrels:

For these varmints, Diphacinone bait placed in bait stations is the most practical control method for large infestations. We also sell gas cartridges for fumigating inside the squirrel burrow. Zinc Phosphide 1% is also available, but only to licensed pest control companies and permittees.

All baits and gas cartridges have complete directions and precautions on their labels and are available at all of our offices. We also offer advice in person or over the telephone on controlling these pests, along with directions for building bait stations. Caution must be used in applying these baits to prevent access by children and non-target animals.
