AGRICULTURAL/STANDARDS OFFICERS
|
The Department has an on-going
recruitment effort for licensed Agricultural/Standards
Officers. Officers inspect a variety of businesses
to ensure that plants, devices and business activities
comply with State and Federal requirements. Licenses
are required to perform this inspection work and
are obtained from the California Department of Food
and Agriculture but license application forms are
available from our office. The five agricultural
licenses all require a bachelorÃs degree from an
accredited college in an agricultural, biological,
chemical or physical science. The three weights
and measures licenses require a bachelorÃs degree
or educational equivalent to graduation with major
work in chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering,
law enforcement, commerce or marketing. Experience
in inspection, repairing or installation of weighing/measuring
devices, consumer protection, law enforcement or
quantity control may be substituted on a year-for-year
basis for up to two years of the college education
requirement.
|
AGRICULTURAL FIELD AIDES
|
The Department establishes a hiring
list each year, usually in the Spring, for persons
interested in performing pest detection work. Individuals
place, service and inspect insect traps in residential
and agricultural areas. Applicants should have some
familiarity with insects and a college level course
in entomology is highly recommended.
|
CLERICAL
|
The Department has no requirements
above those specified for county-wide clerical positions.
|
PESTICIDE APPLICATORS
|
The Department employs a few individuals
to spray herbicides along roads and flood channels.
Applicants should have a Qualified Applicator License
or Certificate issued by the California Department
of Pesticide Regulation in the Right-of-Way category
and a Class B driver's license. Application forms
for the Qualified Applicator exam are available
from our office. No openings are anticipated at
this time.
