Joshua Tree & Surrounding Communities

The community of Joshua Tree is nestled in the foothills of Southern California’s Mojave Desert. It’s approximately 76 miles east of San Bernardino City and approximately 30 miles northeast of Palm Springs in the Coachella Valley.

In Joshua Tree, visitors will find affordable luxury lodging, excellent restaurants, and a friendly, supportive business community. However, Joshua Tree’s showstopper is the natural beauty. Visitors will find magnificent scenery, world-class rock climbing and all levels of hiking trails throughout Joshua Tree National Park.

The park marks the point where two large desert ecosystems come together. Below 3,000 feet, the Colorado Desert encompasses the eastern part of the park and features beautiful cacti. The higher elevations are home to the Mojave Desert and the special habitat of the protected Joshua Tree.

Joshua Tree continues to grow while maintaining the beautiful natural surroundings that draw over one million visitors each year. Joshua Tree offers local gift shops, indoor and outdoor art galleries, a dynamic live music scene and a relaxed community atmosphere. Visitors enjoy the clean air, starry skies, picturesque sunsets, quiet surroundings and unusual landscapes.

Close to Joshua Tree National Park is the community of Yucca Valley, which hosts the Starry Nights Festival each year in late October. World-famous astronomers travel to Yucca Valley for this festival, as do hundreds of amateur astronomers. With telescopes in tow, they view stars, emission nebulae and galaxies nearly free of interference from artificial light.
