Friday Morning Walks at Asistencia
The public is invited to join in the inaugural trek of the Friday Morning Walking Group at the Asistencia in Redlands at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 25.
Put on your walking shoes and join Curator of History Michele Nielsen for refreshments under the flag pole at the front of the site. She will then take the group on a history stroll around the grounds and surrounding neighborhood of this historic branch of the San Bernardino County Museum. Participants will learn more about the structures and their fascinating history, and enjoy a healthful three-quarter mile walk.
On Friday, June 1, Museum Director Robert McKernan will lead the group in a nature walk to learn about the natural environment of the old Mission District, today and yesterday. The walking group will continue every Friday morning thereafter for a 45 minute walk led museum volunteers.
The walks are organized by the museum’s history division. Participation in the Friday Morning Walking Group is free.
The Asistencia is located at 26930 Barton Road in Redlands. No advance reservations are necessary to join the walking group. For more information, call (909) 307-2669 or visit www.sbcountymuseum.org.
