Museum Will Show Forest Service Documentary

The San Bernardino County Museum will screen “The Greatest Good: A Forest Service Centennial Film” on Thursday, May 26, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. The event is free of charge.

This high definition documentary, produced by Steve Dunsky and Dave Steinke and circulated by the US Forest Service, provides a close look at the last 100 years of Forest Service initiatives in the context of public and private interests. It addresses issues such as the delicate balance between preservation and conservation; the conflict between the need to conserve and the desire for public use; historical paternalism and exclusion of women in the agency; and the inherent dangers and controversies of wildland firefighting.

The two-hour film will be shown in the Fisk Gallery at no charge. Seating is limited to 100 people.
