Features Sneak Preview of Web Site
The San Bernardino County Museum invites the public to visit
the museum in Redlands during regular museum hours with no
admission fee on Sunday, January 2. This free admission day
is supported by funds from a grant from the Institute of Museum
and Library Services.
"This free admission day continues the same focus as
did the free day in December," explained Jennifer Reynolds,
museum media specialist. "We are inviting visitors to
take a look at a new section of the museum's web site that
features records of our collections, most of which are not
on exhibit. A brief survey will help us assess the effectiveness
of this part of our site."
While at the museum, visitors can also see "Natural
Illustrations," an exhibit of works by members of the
Southern California Chapter of the Guild of Natural Science
Illustrations, and "A
Walk in the Woods: Discovering California's Forests,"
a special exhibit from the Forest Foundation. Specimens and
artifacts exhibited on three floors of the museum present
local history, anthropology, geology, paleontology, and biological
sciences in regional context.
"This free day is also a great opportunity for our local
visitors to introduce their holiday guests to the museum,
and to the cultural and natural history of San Bernardino
County," said Reynolds.
The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street
exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays
through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $6
(adult), $5 (senior or student) and $4 (child aged 5-12). Children
under 5 and members of the Museum Association are admitted free.
Parking is free, and the facility is handicapped-accessible.
