Free Admission at County Museum

The San Bernardino County Museum invites the public to visit the museum in Redlands during regular museum hours with no admission fee on Sunday, October 3. Free admission is sponsored by Larry Wolff and Associates.

Family Fun is scheduled on that Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. “Keeping Time the Ancient Way” will answer the question of how people told time before watches and digital clocks. Members of the Museum Youth Club will help participants learn about telling time using the ancient methods, including how to make water clocks and sun dials. A $1 materials fee is requested for craft activities.

While at the museum, visitors can also see three special exhibits: “Worth a Thousand Words” that highlights photographic images from the Sun-Telegram and Redlands Daily Facts newspaper negative collections dating back a half-century; “Signs in the Designs,” blue and white embroideries from China; and the Fine Arts Institute Annual Open exhibition of paintings, photography, and sculpture. Displays of specimens and artifacts on three floors of the museum also present local history, anthropology, geology, paleontology, and biological sciences in regional context.

The San Bernardino County Museum is at the California Street exit from Interstate 10 in Redlands. The museum is open Tuesdays through Sundays from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. General admission is $6 (adult), $5 (student or senior), and $4 (child aged 5 to 12). Children under five and Museum Association members are admitted free, and everyone will be admitted free on Sunday, October 3. Parking is free, and the facility is handicapped-accessible.
