Indian Gaming Committee
The Indian Gaming Local Community Benefit Committee was created in response to
the Tribal State Compact signed in 1999. The Compact was a negotiation between
federally recognized sovereign tribes and the State of California which created
a provision for a “Special Distribution Fund” to be used as a good-faith effort
to return monies to local communities to mitigate any and all impacts as a
result of tribal government gaming facilities. Priorities for disbursement of
benefit funds include fire, law enforcement and other emergency services.
Currently the Committee is composed of representatives from the County of San
Bernardino, the City of San Bernardino, the City of Highland, and the San Manuel
Band of Mission Indians.
