nagel“Vici was Academy for Grassroots Organizations’ first CEO and has served the organization and our region since 2002. During her leadership, ‘AcademyGO’ has grown from a small networking group of about 20 nonprofit volunteers, to today’s multi-service management support organization that annually serves more than 5,000 nonprofit professionals and volunteers. "The board and I, our clients, and our region will miss her greatly when she retires at the end of this year,” stated AcademyGO board chair, Matthew Coughlin, the executive director of Moses House Ministries.

During her career, Vici Nagel has worked in leadership positions for a variety of charitable organizations including the American Cancer Society, United Cerebral Palsy Association, and the Volunteer Center of Orange County.

“I will sure miss all the amazing nonprofit leaders I have had the privilege of working with these past 18 plus years!” stated Nagel. “They have been an inspiration to me, and I feel honored to have been a part of their impact in our communities. Years ago I coined the phrase ‘Amazing Leaders Changing Lives’ because that is who they are; they are the unsung, everyday heroes caring for the sick and aged, educating and nurturing our next generation of leaders, sheltering the abused and homeless, and working to improve the quality of life for us all."

Debbie A. Cannon will take over as AcademyGO’s next CEO on Jan. 1, 2021.
