San Bernardino County Supervisor Robert A. Lovingood was unanimously elected chair of the Local Agency Formation Commission, the primary agency that encourages orderly growth in the County.

"Supervisor Lovingood’s ability to breakdown complex issues and get to the meat of the matter make him a natural leader, and LAFCO will benefit greatly from his common-sense approach to problems and his commitment to doing what’s best for our residents," said Second District Supervisor Janice Rutherford, who nominated Supervisor Lovingood as chair Jan. 16.

The seven-member LAFCO commission promotes logical and orderly service boundaries for cities and special districts.

“I’d like to thank my peers for their confidence,” Supervisor Lovingood said. “As San Bernardino County continues to grow, LAFCO will play an important role in ensuring that public agencies are able to provide efficient and effective public services.”

As LAFCO chair, Supervisor Lovingood will complete the term of former County Supervisor James Ramos, who was elected to the State Assembly. Supervisor Lovingood has been on LAFCO since 2013. The other LAFCO members are: Jim Bagley, Mojave Water Agency Director Kimberly Cox, Cucamonga Valley Water District Director James V. Curatalo, Highland City Council Member Larry McCallon and Fontana City Mayor Acquanetta Warren.
