January 1, 2008 - New Law Regarding Social Security Numbers -
Effective January 1, 2008, Section 1798.89 of the Civil Code is added to read:
Unless otherwise required to do so by state or federal law, no person, entity, or
government agency shall present for recording or filing with a county recorder a document that is required by any provision of law to be open to the public if that record displays more than the last four digits of a social security number.

March 12, 2007 - Announcing the San Bernardino County Unclaimed Property Tax Refund Website.  You can use this site to search for refunds of property taxes that have not been claimed.  These refunds have been created due to a reduction in the assessed value of property after the property taxes have been totally paid. 

New Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative - requires all U.S. citizens, Canadian citizens, citizens of the British Overseas Territory of Bermuda, and Mexican citizens, to have a passport or other designated secure document to enter or re-enter the United States at airports and seaports.

May 24, 2006 - We are pleased to announce the relocation of the San Bernardino County Historical Archives.  We will be moving to a larger facility, located at 1808 Commercenter West, Suite D, San Bernardino.  Our current facility, located at 777 E. Rialto Avenue, San Bernardino will close June 5, 2006.  The new facility will open by June 26, 2006.

During our closure, we invite you to contact us at (909) 387-1036 or visit us at The Hall of Records, 222 W. Hospitality Lane, First Floor, San Bernardino.  We will assist you with your requests and will process them as quickly as possible once the new facility is operational. 

Once the new facility opens, our hours of operation will be Monday through Friday from 9:00 am to 11:30 am and 1:00 pm to 3 pm.  Thank you for your continued patronage.  We look forward to serving you at our new location.
